When will this unattainable be broken,

এ অধরামৃত কবে যেনো ভাঙে,
অঙ্গুলি হেলিয়ে মেহেদী মেখে,
অসম সীমানায় প্রাচীর ঘেঁষে ঘেঁষে
কত স্বপ্ন যায় শুকিয়ে ঝরে। 

অন্তর মরে মরে শূন্য খাঁচায় 
বন্দীত্ব খসে খসে পড়ে;
রাত্রি বেলা চাঁদ থাকবে, তুমি না;
মনুষ্য সীমানা আকাশ পর্যন্ত । 

ওপাশে তমিস্র ওখানে কে বাঁচে? 
আলো নেই, পানি নেই, খাদ্য নেই, 
আমি ঈশ্বর নই, আমি মানুষ;
ওপাশে আমি বাঁচবো না।

ভয়ে ভয়ে ভেঙে পড়ে মায়া রাজ্য 
লালিত স্বপনচারিনী মনোহারিণী;
আচমকা স্বপ্ন দেখে কাঁদে,

এ অধরামৃত কবে যেনো ভাঙে।
