So hot tea

You are half awake, I am very sleepy.

As well as two from dusk till dawn-

Hot water is boiling on the stove to make two cups of tea;

Do you need so much hot water this night?

Unconcerned sleep with a drunken look in his eyes

Whenever you see eyes in your eyes

I feel ashamed again and again.

This is not my body shame;

This is the shame of my eyes.

The sound of trembling water in the hearth seems like a storm is blowing,

The eager offering of tea to wake up,

The call of insects in the dead night

I think we will become friends.

The appeal of drinking tea is not appealing at all.

Lend your sleepless eyes,

I want to wake up with you a little longer;

I want to drink hot tea made by your hands

The hotter the tea, the better your parsha.

Your shameless eyes shame me again and again,

So hot tea! Why do you feel cold?

So did not sleep well;

Not that steam of hot water in me-

ebbing with breath,

I do not understand anything.

Those carefree eyes, savage lips

Maybe even hotter than that.

You and I are two;

Imagination luxuriates on the bed far away in two rooms,

Just a cup of tea lying side by side

Both of us drink unconsciously.

তুমি অর্ধ জাগ্রত আমি প্রচন্ড ঘুম চোখে,

পাশাপাশি দু'জন সন্ধ্যা থেকে ভোর অবধি-
দু'পেয়ালা চা তৈরিতে গরম পানি ফুটছে চুলায়;
এতোটা গরম পানি কি দরকার এই রাতে?
নির্লিপ্ত ঘুম চোখে মাতালের মতো চাহুনি নিয়ে
যখনই তোমার চোখে চোখ পড়ে তখন 

আমি লজ্জিত হয়ে উঠি বারবার,
এ আমার শরীরের লজ্জা নয়; 

এ আমার চোখের লজ্জা।

কম্পিত পানির শব্দে চুলায় মনে হয় ঝড় বইছে,
চা পানের আকুল নিবেদন ঘুম ছাড়ানোর জন্য,
স্তব্ধ রাতে ঝিঁঝি পোকার ডাক 

সাথী হয়ে যাবে মনে হয়,
চা পানের আকুল আবেদন কিছুতেই টানছে না।

তোমার ঘুমহীন চোখ দু'টো ধার দাও, 

আরো কিছুক্ষণ তোমার সাথে জাগতে চাই;
তোমার হাতের তৈরি গরম চা পান করতে চাই
যতোটা  গরম চা ততোটাই সুধাময়ী তোমার পরশ।
তোমার নির্লজ্জ চোখ বারবার আমাকে লজ্জিত করে,
এতোটা গরম চা! কেনো ঠান্ডা মনে হচ্ছে?
তাহলে কি ঘুমের ঘোর কাটেনি; 

না আমার মধ্যে সেই গরম পানির বাষ্প-

নিঃশ্বাসের সাথে উথলে পড়ছে, 

কি জানি কিছু বুঝতে পারছি না।

সেই নির্লিপ্ত চোখ, অসভ্য ঠোঁট 

তার থেকেও হয়তো বেশি গরম।
তুমি আমি দু'জন;

দু'রুমে অনেক দূরে বিছানার উপর কল্পনা বিলাস,
পাশাপাশি শুয়ে শুধু এক পেয়ালা চা 

দু'জনে পান করি স্বযত্নে অচেতনে।
